Terran
May 23, 2007 - 8:54 PM - by Cotton

If you would like to discuss the Terran more please visit our Terran Strategy Forum.

Overview:
Strength, Pride, Discipline. These ideals have enabled the UED to defend its interests along the Galactic Rim for more than two centuries. Marines come from all walks of life, but they are united in their devotion to the preservation of the UED way of life. The Terran Strengths are mobility, great defense, build anywhere, cloaking, and versatility. Marines, strong through whole tech-tree, easy to learn, instant cloak detection, ability to repair buildings and most units. The Terran have a Tendency to "turtle", need lots of space, require active scouting, require micromanagement for special abilities, vulnerable to Dark Swarm, and buildings burn up when highly damaged.

Ground Units:

SCV
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type:N/A

The SCV is the most basic of the Terran units. SCVs are the Terran's worker bee. SCVs perform all manual labor such as the constructing and repairing of buildings, as well as mining both gas and mineral resources.

Marine
Health: Unkown
Armor: Shields
Damage Type: Does normal ranged damage.

Marines remain mostly unchanged since Brood War. They are still the Terrans most basic unit dealing Normal ranged damage. There is an upgrade that gives the marine a shield and +15 hit points. Their range upgrade and stim-pack upgrade will be returning in SC2.

Reaper
Health: 180-200 (based on game play footage and Photon Cannons still dealing 20 damage an attack)
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Ranged

Reapers are armed with 2 pistols, and uses a jump pack to avoid different types of terrain. The Reaper has two abilities it can use a flame thrower (making us believe this is the replacement to the firebat), and it can lay mines. The mines are different to the Vulture Spider Mines in that the enemy unit has to stop in range of the mine for it to activate.

Ghost
Health: Unknown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Ranged

Ghosts epitomize the height of human evolution and physical conditioning. The Ghost is returning with its lockdown and cloak abilities, it also has gained a new ability called snipe which we have no information on.

Siege Tank
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Ranged Artillery

Siege Tanks have been a StarCraft Icon since the game was released. They are known to be heavy hitting tanks and artillery.

Viking
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Unkown

The Viking is a mech unit that can transform into two modes, flying and ground. In flying mode he can only attack air units, and in ground mode only ground units. Other than that we know very little other then comments in magazines saying that this unit can take out entire armies on its own.

Cobra
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Rail Guns

This is a fast moving hover unit that has two rail guns and can attack on the move. It is likely that this is the replacement to the Vulture.

Thor
Builds From: SCV
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Siege Weaponry

The Thor is a base destroyer. It's movement, and turning speed is slow making it tuff to kill small fast units. But it is reported to do heavy heavy siege damage to buildings. This unit is built by and SCV rather than a building.

Air Units:

Dropship
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: N/A

The Dropship is an old classic and we don't Know how many units the drop ship can carry at this time.

Banshee
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: N/A

The Banshee is an air to ground assault unit. It has an attack that does aoe damage to ground units making it perfect for large packs of smaller units. It can also cloak. This is likely an all new unit given to the Terran to match the Tempest and Guardian (if it's returning for SC2).

Battlecruiser
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: Ranged

A Battlecruiser's strength lies in its high hit points, ability to be repaired, and Yamato Cannon. Besides the Yamato Cannon returning the Battlecruiser will be getting a new ground attack that deals large amounts of aoe damage.

Buildings:

Command Center
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

The Command Center is the focal point of every Terran Colony. The SCVs deposit all the harvested minerals and vespene gas at the Command Center, and this is also where the SCVs are produced.
Add-on
Planetary Fortress Upgrade
This new attachment to the Command Center allows you to have a defensive turret on top of your Command Center. We don't know if this will attack air or ground, or possibly detect stealth
Supply Depot
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

This looks to be the Supply Depot, seen in a screenshot at Gamespot from there E3 coverage.
Add-on
Supply Depot Submerged Mode
We do not know if this is an upgrade or just an ability of the new Supply Depots but they will be able to submerge underground to allow troops to cross over them.
Barracks
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

The Barracks is responsible for training and producing infantry. It is also known to be the root for the Advanced Building.
Add-on
Tech Center
We believe this is the Tech Center add-on which allows you to build higher tier units from the building it is attached to. There is rumor that the add-ons are no longer building specific and the same add-ons can be built at every building that supports them.
Factory
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

This is the Terran factory, no specific units have been confirmed to be built here but we assume all the mechanical ground units.
Add-on
Reactor Addon
The Reactor add-on allows you to build two units at a time from the factory, there is also a second add-on the Tech Center which allows you to build higher tier units (no pictures as yet). Also there is a rumor that the add-ons will no longer be building specific but be attachable to any build that supports an add-on.
Sensor Dome
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

The Sensor Dome is a detector like missile turrets which may have the ability removed.
Add-on
Radar Dome Upgrade
The Radar Dome is an upgraded Sensor Dome giving greater range in its detection, even into the fog of war.
Refinery
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

In order to harvest Vespene Gas, a Refinery must be built atop the geyser.

Bunker
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

You can place Terran Infantry units in a bunker. The units in the Bunker do not take damage as long as they are in the Bunker and the Bunker is still standing.

Missile Turret
Health: Unkown
Armor: Unkown
Damage Type: N/A

The Missile Turret provides anti-air defense. It is also stated that they can shoot at "tall" targets, such as Colossus. So they will be useful against a select few ground units as well. You can forget about getting a Colossus in a Terran base.
