Game Info:Release Date: The official release date is "when its ready". But Rob Pardo has been quoted as saying we defiantly will not release the game in 2007.
System Requirements: There is currently no official information about this. But we do know they plan for it to run on Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X.
Game Balance:Game Play Video: The game play video used a lot of tricks to allow for a better presentation and should not be used to consider aspects of game balancing. Game Features:Game Speed: The game speed seen in the game play trailer was set at normal speed. This was to showcase all the great aspects of the new game. Expect to see much faster paced game play in the real game.
Unit/Building Selection: Currently you can select an unlimited number of units, but this may change with balance and testing. You can also select and build units from multiple buildings at the same time using the Shift+Click option. SC2 Editor:C Scripting: The SC2 Editor will use a C like scripting language to give a modder complete control over every aspect of the map he makes. It will also include the more standard Map Editor app that will allow you to make beginner and intermediate maps without needing to know the scripting language. Sources:

Terran
 | Overview:
Strength, Pride, Discipline. These ideals have enabled the UED to defend its interests along the Galactic Rim for more than two centuries. Marines come from all walks of life, but they are united in their devotion to the preservation of the UED way of life. The Terran Strengths are mobility, great defense, build anywhere, cloaking, and versatility. Marines, strong through whole tech-tree, easy to learn, instant cloak detection, ability to repair buildings and most units. The Terran have a Tendency to "turtle", need lots of space, require active scouting, require micromanagement for special abilities, vulnerable to Dark Swarm, and buildings burn up when highly damaged.

Zerg
 | Overview:
At the end of Starcraft Brood War the Overmind was destroyed and (we think) that Kerrigan takes over the swarm. In SC1 the Zerg had the ability to create units very quickly but there base defenses were weaker than the other two races. I would guess that they will keep this formula for the Zerg, and maybe further it, to give it that swarm like feeling.

Protoss
 | Overview:
The Protoss are a technically advanced race, putting all there energies into advancing there technology. They are able to project shields around themselves and generate worm holes in the galaxy through Warpgates. There strengths are there high health units with additional shielding making them very tuff to kill. A fairly direct technology tree and a lower level of micromanagement than the other two races. The down side is unit production is slow and rebuilding an army can take quite some time.

Non-Race Specific Units:
Blue Mineral
 | Resource Type: Mineral
Gather Rate: 8 per gather (based on SC1)
This is the SC2 version of the standard mineral found in SC1 no apparent changes besides the look have been made. |
Yellow Mineral
 | Resource Type: Mineral
Gather Rate: Unkown
This is a high yield mineral giving more minerals per gather.
Quoted by Karune (Blizzard Community Manager)
Yes, they will be a harvestable high yield resource, meaning each harvest rotation will result in greater mineral quantities than the standard blue minerals. This gives players more strategic choices when trying to evaluate where they wish to expand. Expand to the high yield but risk easier discovery? Or expand to a safer area but earn fewer resources? |
Gas Geyser
 | Resource Type: Gas
Gather Rate: 8 per gather (based on SC1)
The Standard gas geyser from the original Starcraft. As far as we know this resource is un-changed for SC2. |
Mining Doodad
 | Health: Unkown
Armor: Unknown
Damage Type: None (assuming its a doodad)
At the very very beginning of the game play trailer you will see these guys shooting lasers at mineral formations. These we believe are doodads. There is some discussion, that these could be some Terran miner. But we've already seen SCV's gathering minerals, and the remote location these guys are placed in makes us believe they are doodads. |
